Turkey destroys armenian heritage

EGYPT AND CHINA IN “GOLDEN APRICOT”

Armenian monasteries in Iran added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List

The Armenian Monastic Ensembles in Iran, in the north-west of the country, consists of three monastic ensembles of the Armenian Christian faith: St Thaddeus and St Stepanos and the Chapel of Dzordzor. These edifices – the oldest of which, St Thaddeus, dates back to the 7th century – are examples of outstanding universal value of the Armenian architectural and decorative traditions.

UNITED NATIONS SCREENS “SCREAMERS” FILM IN TOKYO

“Screamers”, the documentary about genocide in the last century, with music by the Grammy award-winning rock band System of a Down, was featured last week at the United Nations Refugee Film Festival 2008 in Tokyo, sponsored by UNHCR and Japan for UNHCR. UNHCR called the festival a “vital component of UNHCR’s year round action plan to raise awareness of the plight and triumph of the world’s 33 million refugees and internally displaced persons.

ARMENIAN KHACHKAR-MONUMENT OPENED IN BRAZIL

 

In these days Armenian khachkar-monument establishment ceremony took place in Ozasko City, Brazile. The khachkar is gifted to the city by the Municipality of Gyumri commemorating the relationship established between the two cities in 2006.

According to the press department of the Foreign Minister of RA the opening ceremony was made by the Mayor of the city, the Armenian Council in Brazil and the representative of Armenian-Brazil church branch. The Council of Armenia made a speech and said that Armenians who managed to escape the Genocide came to Ozasko and built their homes there.
