PanARMENIAN.Net/ American MG Co-Chair Mathew Bryza, deputy to Assistant Secretary of State, is recommended as U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan, American Foreign Policy journal reports.
Recommendation for Bryza’s new appointment was given by former US Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Fried.
Fried and Bryza declined to comment, according to Foreign Policy.

The report of the US Department of State on the post-election situation in Armenia has roused indignation of the Deputy Armen Ashotyan, representing the party in power. At the press-conference on June 5 he noted that only the data of the oppositionists had been used while preparing the report.

The Subcommittee of Foreign Allocations of the US House of Representatives approved the bill on allocating 52 million dollars’ assistance to Armenia, 8 million dollars’ assistance to Nagorno Karabakh, and to Armenia and Azerbaijan – 3 million dollars’ military assistance each.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he is willing to consider a U.S. diplomatic office in Tehran.
He made the comment Sunday in response to a question after a cabinet meeting. He said he welcomes the idea of expansion of ties between the peoples of Iran and the United States.
